Well done to everyone who has signed up to the May challenge! There is something for everyone – The Marathon – 30 classes in 30 days; The Sprint -15 classes straight in 15 days; or The Medley – 3 classes each week in May (made up of a mix of Bikram, IHPs and Yin). This is the one I am doing this year – and I am enjoying the chance to get a little bit out of my comfort zone and explore Hot Pilates! If you want to take part you can still join up!

Bikram Basics Workshop with visiting teacher Peggy Preston

We are delighted to have Peggy Preston host this workshop – which will introduce and explain the main underpinning principles of Bikram yoga and help students to correctly approach and practice this series of yoga.

Peggy will go through each posture in detail and talk about the benefits of each, as well as give a brief introduction on the history of yoga and the lineage of Bikram yoga. There will be time to ask questions.

The workshop is for all levels and everyone is welcome. Peggy will lead the 4:00 PM class following so you can implement the new information. Numbers are limited so please see reception to book your spot.

Teachers Corner.

Some of you will have seen the recent Facebook post of Sylvia graduating from Massey University and it got me thinking about what all the teachers do outside the studio. So, this month is the beginning of a series of these items about our fabulous teaching team – starting with Sylvia.

Outside the hot yoga room, Silvia dedicates herself to learning, growing and spends time in self-study, studying and contemplating spiritual texts in the lineage of Paramhansa Yogananda and meditating.

Other than that, she enjoys the great outdoors: walking or hiking or taking Princess Dalia (her bike) for a speedy ride! Silvia has also studied astrology for the past 15 years and, if her time allows it, she likes to explore deeper layers of it.

And Finally

Queens Birthday Weekend.

Don’t forget we have a long weekend coming up with Queen’s Birthday on the 7th of June. Check out our website for the long weekend hours and classes.

International Yoga Day

International Yoga Day, is celebrated on the 21st of June and aims to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practicing yoga. As students of Yoga for the People, you already know the many benefits of this practice so please use this opportunity to share it with your friends. Look out for events around the city – or bring someone you love to a class.

Take care everyone, and see you soon!

Claire & the team.
